What Does the Bible Say About Aliens and Extraterrestrial Life?

The short answer: The Bible neither confirms nor denies life on other planets — it's simply silent on the question. What it does affirm: God created everything, visible and invisible (Colossians 1:16); the universe declares His glory (Psalm 19:1); and humanity holds a unique, cherished place in His care (Psalm 8:4). Thoughtful Christians land in different places on this one, and that's okay — Scripture gives us wonder, not a verdict.

Colossians 1:16KJV
"For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him."
What this meansWhatever exists, anywhere in the universe, was made by Christ and exists for Him. Nothing is outside His ownership.
Psalm 19:1KJV
"The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork."
What this meansThe cosmos is meant to point us to a Creator. Discovery — of planets, galaxies, or anything else — should lead to wonder, not fear.
Psalm 8:3–4KJV
"When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?"
What this meansDavid felt the same vertigo we feel looking at space — and his conclusion was that God's personal attention to us is more amazing, not less, against that vastness.
Nehemiah 9:6KJV
"Thou, even thou, art LORD alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth thee."
What this means"All their host" — everything in the heavens belongs to Him and is sustained by Him moment by moment.
Genesis 1:1KJV
"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth."
What this meansThe Bible's opening line settles the biggest question first: whatever the universe contains, it starts with Him.
Romans 1:20KJV
"For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:"
What this meansCreation itself testifies to its Maker. The more we learn about the universe, the more there is to learn about God.
